On Saturday, November 2, 2024, the Informal Settlements Unit (ISU) proudly launched its inaugural Community Outreach Caravan on Robinson Street, providing residents with essential health, wellness, and disaster preparedness information. ISU Logistics Lead, Ms. Michelle Richardson, opened the event by emphasizing the Unit's commitment to a holistic strategy that transcends traditional land reclamation efforts. She underscored the importance of community engagement, collaborative partnerships, and data-driven initiatives, highlighting an upcoming Social Needs Assessment Survey designed to gather vital information for future development.

The success of the event was bolstered by the support of various partners, including:

  • The Turks and Caicos Islands Diabetic Association,

  • Dr. Valerie Francois of Grace Bay Medical Integrated Health Care,

  • The Health Promotions and Advocacy Unit of the Ministry of Health and Human Services,

  • The Turks and Caicos Islands Red Cross Society,

  • The Rotary Club of Providenciales,

  • The Rotaract Club of Providenciales, and

  • The Consulate General of Haiti in Providenciales.

They offered a range of complimentary services, such as health screenings, disaster preparedness resources, translation services and educational materials.
